I've been a diehard baseball fan since the early 80s, am lucky enough to root for one of the greatest teams of all time the St. Louis Cardinals, and used to listen to them on the radio nearly every game as a youth for many summers. I catch games when I can on the tv, or in person at various ballparks such as Busch Stadium (II), Wrigley Field and Miller Park. I used to play in right field and center for 3 years as a teenager, and appreciate the diffuculty and nuances of the sport at least to some extent. As a kid I collected baseball cards and followed the Cardinals every season in varying capacities (this last season I followed the season closely on the internet and watched daily highlight plays, a far cry from the days of radio broadcasts). Recently I became interested in some of the more in-depth baseball statistics, starting with OPS+ and then into more in-depth sabermetric analyses. I'm striving for creating a stat that is both accessible in the sense that the old standbys were easily understood (batting average, home runs, and RBI) with the more accurate sabermetric statistics that have become increasingly more crucial in understanding the game over the past few years.

And of course with baseball, you need to drink some beer. This blog will also be about reviewing beer, mainly craft brews that you probably won't be able to get at the game, but will greatly complement a night (or day) of watching the best sport you could possibly drink a beer to. Not that I'll be always talking about baseball... some beers I'll probably compare to a band or something random. Because the only thing better than drinking a beer and watching baseball would be to go see a band or throw in some new tunes into whatever it is you play it on these days.

And since I'm a complete nut over collecting music and discovering new bands, you can expect me to do a few album reviews, make some playlists, write random posts on anything to do with music, or even write about the artistic direction of some musicians' output, and whatever the internet has to do with that and to what degree.

Of course, I'd be remiss to not throw in the occasional modestly salacious comment on the fairer sex. That's what the internet is for, right?
